Student of the Department of Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Brawijaya managed to become a finalist at the national level Esai event. This event was organized by the ISLAMIC ECONOMIC DEPARTMENT OF TANGJUNGPURA UNIVERSITY. HARLAH EKIS III is a national level event from the University of Tanjungpura Islamic Economics Student Association, which invites all students throughout Indonesia to take part in the essay by sending their essays to the Secretariat of the FEB Islamic Economics Student Association, which will select ten best invited works to present their essay in Pontianak City.

In addition to presenting their work, the participants will later take part in the next two series of HARLAH EKIS III events, namely Public Lectures and Pontianak City Field Trip. The participants will take part in the public lecture where the speakers are very competent people in their fields, and after that they will be invited to take a closer look at Pontianak Culture through Field Trip to several destinations in Pontianak City.

This event was held in order to develop creativity and the role of Indonesian youth who are young people with high fighting spirit. The event took the theme “The Role of Youth in Making Sharia the Basis for Developing the Economy in Indonesia”. According to data released by the Pew Research Center (2017), Islam is the second largest religion adopted by all world populations. Where the total population of the Muslim population is 1.8 million, equivalent to 24.1% of the world’s population. The majority of Islam is dominant in Central Asian countries, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, North Africa, and the Sahara Peninsula. Indonesia is one of them. This is an opportunity as well as a challenge on how to develop a potential to be able to improve the Indonesian economy in line with the needs of Muslims based on sharia.

We hope that the HARLAH EKIS III 2019 activities with various innovations from the young generation will contribute innovative and creative ideas by giving an impact to Indonesia going forward to build Indonesia in the future. The innovation and creativity of the nation’s children in their work will help Indonesia become a country that is able to compete in the outside world.
