Shariah Economic Week VI (SEW VI) was organized by Himpunan Mahasiswa Ekonomi dan Perbankan Islam UMY (HIMEPI UMY) on April 1-4, 2018 at Kampus Terpadu UMY (Jalan Ringroad Selatan, Tamantirto, Kasihan, Bantul, Yogyakarta) by Adji Pahlawan Mahdiantoro as its chief executive.

Knowing the importance of preparing the sharia financial industry in welcoming Indonesia as the largest digital economy country in 2024, HIMEPI UMY feels the need to hold an educative event called SEW VI with the theme “Urgency of Islamic Finance Industry in Facing Indonesia as the Largest Digital Economy Country of 2024” to disseminate stakeholder and academic community about realizing sharia finance industry in welcoming Indonesia as the largest digital economy country in 2024.

There are 3 branches competed in the SEW VI 2018 event, namely the Olympic of Islamic Economics, debate, and call for paper. The first day of April 1, 2018 was the opening day of SEW VI 2018, then on the second day on April 2, 2018, the preliminary round of Olympic competition and debate was held.

On April 3, 2018, 3 races of the competition have been held, the continuation of the preliminary round. Namely (1) Olympics, held at KH Amphitheater Building. Ibrahim Floor 5. In the preliminary round followed by 33 public and private universities. The first winner was achieved by representatives of Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta, on behalf of Syafira Dyas Ayuni, Anisatun Anggraeni and Amalia Wiguna. The 2nd winner fell to General Soedirman University, on behalf of Indra Suryani, Siti Mutokhiroh and Hasrin Ainun Islami while the 3rd winner was given to Maulana Malik Ibrahim State Islamic University, on behalf of Muhammad Farid Fahrudin, Badriatul and Nina Amaliya Kholidiyanti.

(2) Debate, held at the Faculty of Islamic Conference Room Level 2. Of the 18 teams that had entered the preliminary round on the first day, which successfully advanced to the semifinals and quarterfinals there were only 8 teams consisting of UB Brawijaya 2, Universitas Brawijaya 3, UMY 2, UMY 3 and UII 2 and Universitas Gajah Mada. The first winner was achieved by a team from Universitas Gajah Mada, on behalf of Nida Karimah, Sapnah Rahmawati and Muhammad Noor Zuhdi. The second winner came to the team from Universitas Brawijaya 3, on behalf of Taradiva Febiola, Ajeng Permata Ramadhani and Patrick Wandy Najoan. And who is entitled to get the Best Speaker awarded to Taradiva Febiola, from the UB team.

(3) Paper Persentation, held in Meeting Room of AR Fachrudin B building 5th floor. Total participants of presentation paper were 38 participants, then 12 participants were entitled to present their paper and win 1st, 2nd and 3rd winner. The 1st winner was achieved by Diponegoro University the names of Abdul Rouf, Abdul Karim and Rima Riyanto, 2nd Winner Dropped to Brawijaya University, on behalf of Dikau Tondo Prasetyo and Muhammad Mufli, 3rd Winner won by Airlangga University, on behalf of Ulfi Alayya, Hilda Gita Mayasari and Arinda Dewi Nur Aini.

On the last day of April 4th, 2018 was the day of a national seminar held at AR Fahrudin B Room 5th floor, UMY with the theme “Transformation of Sharia Banking Industry in the Era of Digital Technology” with the speaker is Muhammad Sobar, S. EI, M. Sc. as an academic gaze, Ade Fauzan as a parliamentarian and OJK policy giver as regulator. The seminar was attended by students of Islamic Banking Economics, UMY students, SEW VI 2018 participants, and the general public.
