The East Java 2019 Regional Scientific Meeting (TEMILREG)

The East Java 2019 Regional Scientific Meeting (TEMILREG) competition begins on Sunday, February 24, 2019 until Wednesday, February 27, 2019. This activity was held at the State Islamic University of Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. There were 5 teams from the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Brawijaya who participated in this competition, consisting of 3 teams for the branch of Islamic economic olympics competition, 1 team for the scientific writing competition branch and 1 team for the pitching competition competition branch. A total of 15 delegates who participated in the TEMILREG race were selected. The following are the names of the delegates participating in the TEMILREG 2019 competition:

On the first day of Saturday, the delegates departed from the Faculty of Economics and Business to the inn. The next activity is Technical Meeting and Learning together. The Technical Meeting starts at 8:00 p.m. until completion and continues with learning together to prepare for the next day. Then on Monday, February 25, 2019 the participants were woken up at 3:00 to take part in the qiyamul lail activity and continued with morning prayers in congregation. At 6:00 the participants departed to the race location. At 9:00 a national seminar was held with the theme “HALAL STRENGTHENING OF INDUSTRIAL THROUGH INCREASING OF FINANCIAL LITERACY IN DIGITAL AREA” which contained:

Indonesia has now built a halal industrial area. The area will be targeted for completion before 2020. Please note, the country of Thailand is one of the countries with the highest level of exporters of its halal products. And they are targeting to become the fifth largest exporter of halal products in the world. Halal industrial areas were formed because the majority of the people in Indonesia are Muslim. The level of consumption of halal products is also high. So that there needs to be a supplier of halal products for the people of Indonesia to meet their needs. According to the 2016/2017 Global Islamic Economy Report, the value of halal food and lifestyle spending in the world reached 1.9 trillion US dollars in 2015 and will be predicted to rise to 3 trillion US dollars by 2021. From that statement, the potential to set up a business is very big potential. Especially with a sharia-based business. In Thailand alone, the majority of the population who are Buddhists have successfully become the largest exporter of halal-certified food products in the world. In Indonesia to build a halal industrial area there are still many obstacles that must be faced. One of them is about understanding the halal industry business opportunities that are still not based on many parties and regulators. And the lack of encouragement from the government to develop this halal industry. Furthermore, from raw material suppliers that still do not meet the halal criteria in sharia and standardization for halal-certified products there are still differences in several institutions and companies. As well as inadequate infrastructure, and understanding of the halal industry is still limited to producers. Therefore, the existence of these business opportunities is expected to be captured by the government to be developed so that they can contribute greatly to economic growth in Indonesia.

Then 13.00 continued with the Olympic preliminary round activities carried out online. Three delegates from CIES FEB UB in this round qualified for the next round. Along with the percentage of scientific writing competition and pitching competition branches that have been included in the 10 finalists of the competition. At 4:00 p.m. continued with the Srikandi Talk Show FGD. The activity was only attended by female participants. Then in the evening at 20:00 there was a sharing activity with FoSSEI East Java administrators. After that the participants took a break to prepare for the next day.

Then the third day Tuesday, February 26, 2019 as usual the participants were woken up at 3:00 to do qiyamul lail and continued with morning prayer. At 6:00 the participants departed to the race location. Then at 08.00 the announcement of the team that passed the preliminary round of the Islamic economic olympiad and the announcement for the team at the branch of the scientific writing competition and pitcing competition. For delegates from CIES FEB UB, only 3 teams from the branch of the Islamic economy olympics competition qualified for the semifinals. The system of this semifinal round is the economic debate of Islam carried out per 2 teams alternately. Each team will be given mossi as an ingredient in the Islamic economic debate and there will be 1 moderator who runs the debate and there are 3 judges to assess the team that conducted the debate. After the entire team has conducted the semifinal round then the announcement for the team that qualified for the final round. For CIES FEB UB delegates this time did not qualify for the final round. At 12:15 a final round is conducted for the entire race branch. All branches of the system competition in this final round use a Case Study, participants will be given a problem and then they are instructed to find solutions and innovations from the problem and later will be presented with power point media. At 13:30 the TEMILREG participants conducted field trips to several tours in Malang. Then at 6:30 the announcement of the winner and closing and after that the participants were sent home to the inn.

For the fourth day Wednesday, February 27, 2019 the participants are allowed to check out of the inn and return to their respective places.
