Internasional Scholarship Expo (ISE) 2019

International Scholarship Expo (ISE) 2019 is one of the work programs of the Advokesma Department of BEM FEB UB whose activities are seminars and exhibitions (expos) of institutions providing scholarships in the country and abroad. In addition, it is also equipped with debriefing training for scholarship registration.

Its becomes the first step of the community to encourage theirqualities to compete and able to fulfill the demandsof working world, especially in the current era of globalization.Because development in the world of education, economy, culture, and transportation demands human beings to have intelligence that not only obtained from within the classroom or other formal institutions (hard skills),yet in relation and socialize must have expertise and an adequate self-skills (soft skills).

The main problem in Indonesia, especially in the education’s field is always sets someone’s value based on quantity (grade and number). While the need for an increase in the qualities’ competition of human resources must be able to produce candidates for the successor of the nation who have high competitiveness, i.e. give more value for them in terms of quality.

Over the years, public speaking has played a leading role in education, government and business. Words have the power to inform, persuade, educate, and even entertain. And the word spoken can be even stronger than the words written in the hands of the right speaker. In the research conducted by Robes 2012, mentioning that public speaking is one of the skills needed in an executive business perspective. Therefore, in this increasingly competitive global competition, it is appropriate for us as young intellectuals, aware of the importance of developing abilities within us. In this case, namely public speaking. So that we can have values that we can offer at least to many people, and increase our confidence.

To make this happen, it is very necessary to hold an activity in the form of training that can provide solutions to the needs of the people of Indonesia in an effort to develop soft skills, especially in the field of puclic speaking in order to compete in today’s development. This is aimed at realizing competent and ready-to-be-prepared State of Indonesia’s human resources in the national and international area because it has its own plus value, like expertise and self-skills.

The theme of Self Development Training (SDT) 2019 is “The Art of Communication” with the form of activities that is in the form of training and talk show.

This activity will be held in 4 series on Sunday, April 21 2019 (Development Classs 1); on Saturday, May 4, 2019 (Development Class 2); on Sunday, September 29, 2019 (Development Class 3) for training; and on Sunday, October 27, 2019 for talk show.
